30th OCTOBER STUDY DAY THE SPANISH GOLDEN AGE

The Spanish Golden Age was a time of extraordinary changes in a country which had been under Islamic rule for 800 years. The dominance of the Catholic Church, a powerful inquisition and the discovery of a New World, all converge and are visible in the art created at the time. This series will explore El Greco in Toledo, Spanish Still Life painting and Velazquez’s time in Madrid under Habsburg rule. The day will comprise three one hour lectures with a break for lunch and the final lecture in the afternoon. The price will include a selection of sandwiches, fruit, tea/coffee plus glass of wine / fruit juice. Cost :£40.00 Member

PLAY ABOUT ISABELLA DE FORTIBUS our local 13th century heroine.

ISABELLA DE FORTIBUS our local 13th century heroine.    Our Chair Glenys Lloyd- Williams recently researched and wrote a short play about the life and times of our local 13th century heroine  Isabella de Fortibus.  She successfully produced and directed this at Ventnor Fringe in August and was sold out for all 4 performances.  Many tas members attended.  She had a cast of 6 as well as herself and John Waterman arranged the sound lighting and other technical wizardry.  All profits to TAS IOW.

There will be another opportunity to see this at Carisbrook Castle on the 3rd and 18th of  October. All profits will be donated to the Museum there and it will be performed in Isabella’s Great Hall. Contact Glenys to obtain your ticket

If anyone has costumes we could use, just long dresses really, please get in touch.  It saves the hiring fees.
